NORTHWEST INDIANA | Every year in the United States, 4.5 million lives are saved by blood transfusions from donors, according to Versiti, a nonprofit health organization that collects blood donations.

Powers Health is teaming with Versiti to host critical mobile blood drives in August at three of its hospitals.

Upcoming blood drives:

  • 11 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Aug. 6, St. Mary Medical Center Conference Rooms 3 & 3A, 1500 S. Lake Park Ave., Hobart
  • 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 21, Community Hospital Cafeteria Conference Rooms, 901 MacArthur Blvd., Munster
  • 10:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Aug. 26, St. Catherine Hospital Cafeteria Conference Room, 4321 Fir St., East Chicago

All blood types are needed, but type 0 blood is especially in demand. Only 5% of Americans donate blood, according to Versiti. Are you ready to save a life? Register today to donate at donateblood.versiti.org/donor/schedules/zip or stop in at any one of the upcoming Powers Health blood drives.
