NORTHWEST INDIANA | Nearly 69 million Americans have experienced dizziness or imbalance at some point in their lives. However, dizziness, vertigo and balance issues may be symptomatic of a deeper problem.
“Maintaining good balance is key to healthy neuromuscular aging,” said Veronica Cohen, a physical therapist and manager of Therapy Services for Powers Health. “If someone is having issues with balance, that increases the risk for falls. Our therapy team can help with targeted treatment focusing on vestibular rehabilitation.”
Join staff members from Powers Health’s Dizzy and Balance Therapy Services as they spotlight available therapies and offer tips to help you reduce symptoms of balance disorders. This free presentation is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 in the Conference Room at Community Hospital Outpatient Center, 9660 Wicker Ave., St. John.
The evening will include demonstrations of balance and therapy equipment and a tour of the Dizzy and Balance Therapy Services space.
The Dizzy & Balance Therapy Services team at the Community Hospital Outpatient Center in St. John incorporates advanced diagnostic and rehabilitative balance equipment to treat specific conditions and related symptoms.

If frequent dizziness and poor balance symptoms are a concern, Cohen encourages patients to seek help right away. Customized treatment plans get patients on the road to a better quality of life, she said.
“Our staff recognizes that every patient has unique needs, and we perform specific testing to best determine the cause of his or her dizziness and balance issues,” Cohen said. “We work with the patient’s goals to develop a cohesive plan of care that will treat the symptoms based on the latest research and standards of practice in our fields.”
