NORTHWEST INDIANA | St. Mary Medical Center has earned special recognition from Blue Cross Blue Shield for delivering excellent care in knee and hip replacement.

The hospital has been designated a Blue Distinction Center+ (BDC+) for Total Hip Arthroplasty and Total Knee Arthroplasty, recognizing its commitment to quality care, treatment expertise and positive patient outcomes.

Blue Distinction Centers+ are healthcare facilities recognized for demonstrating expertise in delivering specialty care. The “+” designation also recognizes facilities that provide more affordable care in addition to meeting quality measures.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our orthopedic surgeons, nurses, rehabilitation specialists and other healthcare professionals who work together to provide exceptional care for patients undergoing joint replacement,” said Janice Ryba, CEO of St. Mary Medical Center. “Our goal is to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes and return to the activities that are important to them.”

Hip and knee replacement procedures can help patients experiencing significant joint pain and mobility limitations improve function and quality of life. St. Mary Medical Center provides coordinated care throughout the joint replacement experience, from evaluation and surgery through recovery and rehabilitation.

The Blue Distinction Center+ designation provides patients and families with an additional resource when choosing a healthcare facility for hip or knee replacement surgery.
