Prostate Cancer: What Men Need to Know

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, and it can be treated successfully in many cases. Screening and the early detection of symptoms are important, but guidelines for PSA screenings have changed in recent years. New treatment options, including minimally invasive robotic surgery, have improved survival rates and decreased the incidence of side effects such as post-surgical impotence.

St. Mary Medical Center will host a public symposium on prostate cancer featuring Urologists Adam Perlmutter, MD, and David Wilks, MD, and Oncologist-Hematologist Eduardo Braun, M.D. They will discuss common symptoms of prostate cancer, the latest recommendations on who should receive PSA screenings, non-surgical approaches to prostate cancer treatment, and the latest surgical advancements in partial and total prostatectomy, or prostate removal.
