NORTHWEST INDIANA | Powers Health is expanding the St. Mary Medical Center Outpatient Center in Valparaiso to meet the community’s needs.

The location at 3800 St. Mary Drive, Valparaiso, has seen much growth since opening in 2013.

This two-phase project is estimated to be completed in approximately two years.

“This will be our third expansion on the Valparaiso campus within five years,” said Janice Ryba, CEO of St. Mary Medical Center. “This location remains a vital link in our ability to build healthier communities and offer convenient access to comprehensive outpatient services, as well as access to primary care and multiple physician practice specialties.”

In 2021, 20,455 square feet of space was added with the addition of a third floor to provide Pain Management and Gastroenterology Services. Three years later, Powers Health opened a 24/7 full service Emergency Department within an 8,000-square foot expansion to provide Pain Management Services and Gastroenterology Services at the facility.

This newest expansion – 71,000 square feet with two stories – will include expanded Outpatient Therapy Services, Orthopedic physician offices and Audiology, as well as space for primary and specialty physician offices.

Project partners include Eckert Wordell for construction design and The Pangere Corporation as the building contractor. More than 70 construction jobs are being created for this project.

The project includes renovations on the first and second floor of the current building for Cardiology Services expansion and Neurodiagnostics Services on the third floor.

The St. Mary Medical Center Outpatient Center, formerly Valparaiso Health Center, is part of Powers Health, which includes Community Hospital in Munster; St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago; St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart; and Powers Health Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point.
