L.I.V.E. Comprehensive Vascular Screenings
St. Mary Medical Center offers L.I.V.E. Vascular Screenings at VHC. This comprehensive evaluation consists of four separate screenings for carotid artery disease.
The L.I.V.E. Comprehensive Screening Includes:
1. Carotid artery ultrasound to screen for Carotid Artery Disease or blockages in the blood vessels that supply the brain. (Using an ultrasound)
2. Abdominal aortic ultrasound to screen for an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) which is an enlarged area in the lower part of the aorta and is the major blood vessel that supplies blood to the body. (Ultrasound)
3. Ankle brachial index to screen for Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) or blockages in the blood vessels that supply the legs. (blood pressure in arms and legs)
4. Cardiac rhythm strip to screen for Abnormal Heart Rhythms which is an improper beating of the heart, whether irregular, too fast, or too slow. (The cardiac rhythm strip is simply another term used for placing the patient on a heart monitor (electrodes on the chest connected to a heart monitor) and assessing for any improper beating of the heart whether it be irregular, too fast, or too slow. This only takes 15-30 seconds and the heart rhythm strip is printed and placed on the patients record.)
Fee: $90.00 (Limited amount of appointments.)
